Long Overdue
I am so sorry about the delay! So much has been happening in the last month.
The weekend before Mom’s birthday, she and I went to Des Moines to visit little Billie and see the Dave Matthews Band. We had such a great time! Dave was amazing! Billie insisted we take this last opportunity to live the college life vicariously through her, so we hit up Peggy’s, a FIJI party, and Big Tomato. It brought back A LOT of really great memories for me…and Mom! 🙂
I have just a few pics from the concert…but Mom has the better ones from the weekend. I’ll try to post them later.
On October 2nd, as you all know, Mom turned 55! My sisters and I were on a mission to give her the most memorable birthday weekend she has ever had. I hope we succeeded! Thank you to all the wonderful people who helped make her day so special! Below are pictures of a few of the flower bouquets Mom received – they were some of the most beautiful we have ever seen. I do not have a picture of the bouquet Margie sent, but they too were nothing short of stunning and brought tears to Mom’s eyes.
The next weekend, October 9th and 10th, brought us another adventure. Mom, Pete, and I drove to Joshua Tree, California for a roots music festival. We had no idea what to expect but made the trek because Blue Rodeo, one of Mom’s favorite bands, came down from Canada to play. We showed up on Friday to find the coolest venue on private residential property! We set up camp, met our neighbors, had a cocktail, then slept under the stars (on cots of course…we are taking this adventure thing slowly). On Saturday, the three of us had such a relaxing day! Mom and Pete read their books and we listened to 12 hours of live music on two stages. With only 450 people in attendance, we were able to park ourselves in one spot between the two stages and simply turn our chairs to watch the alternating shows. The music was incredible!! I have no doubt we’ll make the trip back again next year, and hopefully bring the rest of the fam along!
The fun does not stop there! Mom spent last weekend in Chicago with Billie, who had her last fall break as an undergrad student. Hopefully they blog soon to tell you all about it. I can’t wait to see the pics!
On the health front, there is not too much to share just yet. Mom’s last CA-125 results came back a little higher and she now qualifies for the clinical trial. Dr. Chambers called today and told Mom that she wants her to have another CT-scan before coming back to Tucson. The scan is scheduled for November 3rd.
I hope this finds you well.
Love,
Michelle
