Why is it important to know the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer?
The earlier a woman is diagnosed, the better her chances of survival. Period. The statistics are very clear. 93% of women diagnosed in early stages survive. The big problem is that fewer than 15% of all cases are diagnosed early.
It is expected in 2013 a total number of 14,030 deaths will be attributed to ovarian cancer. So, while Colleen’s Dream continues to search for an early detection test by funding cutting-edge ovarian cancer research, it is important to understand the symptoms of the disease because it just may help make a difference for someone you love.
The signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer
When the following symptoms are used to diagnose ovarian cancer, they are primarily due to the tumor itself and fluid buildup in the abdomen.
The symptoms listed, while appearing insignificant on their own, are more severe and persistent in women with ovarian cancer. Please see your OB/GYN as soon as possible if you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed.
