Colleen's Journey

One year later…

Dear Family and Friends:

Can you believe it!! Exactly one year ago my life changed forever. I remember this day as if it happened yesterday. Our good friend, (and I mean this in every sense of the word, especially in the goodness of his heart) John insisted I meet him at the ER to run a few tests to see what was going on with me. Well, on our way over to the ER, I stopped by to see a special bride, Imelda, and told her I would be late to the wedding but I would be there. This I know for sure, I missed a great time!

A big hug and thank you to Sarah who directed us to Dr. Chambers at the Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson. The people in this facility literally saved my life and continue to do so. They have supported us physically, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually. I thank them for their dedication to the human spirit.

I have been an emotional mess! I feel like the Super Collider in Switzerland! As I approached this day, so many emotions have bubbled up to the surface. As I look back at the past year I have so many mixed emotions. Frustration that I have 6 more treatments. Panic about ending the treatments and worrying about the cancer returning. Anger that the past year of my life has been so difficult on Bill and the girls. Loss of so many things I have missed. Grateful for the wonderful friends and family I have that have given me so much support and encouragement, I seriously could not have gotten this far without you. Happy to be really living in the present and in the moment. And again, just happy!

This is just a huge milestone for Bill, the girls, my son-in-laws and me. Ask them how they felt one year ago today. I think perhaps they also need to verbalize about the past year.

As for me, I have so many blessings and I know it! To all of you who have given my family and me so much support, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It really does take a village and I love my village!

Love to you all,

Colleen
