a little update!
Hello lovely friends,
We hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! It seems like a lot has been happening around the Drury house lately. Michelle just sent me a list of things to blog about….so, here it is:
First of all, we are all FINALLY feeling better after some serious illness traveling around our family. I don’t know what it was, but we all got it! Mom even had to cancel her appointment in Tucson because she could barely get out of bed! Well, thankfully, we are better now 🙂
Second of all, Billie came home for Thanksgiving! It was so wonderful to spend time with her. We went shopping, ate a lot, and drank a few glasses of vino. It was great!
Third of all, it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without some kind of drama involving a dog. This year, the dog was Kodi (Michelle and Pete’s lab). My mom and dad were watching Kodi this past weekend while Michelle and Pete were in Minnesota visiting Pete’s family. So, at about 9 pm on Saturday night, I was walking into my parent’s living room where I found a empty Motrin bottle with some teethmarks on it. We immediately knew it was one of the dogs who got into it (Chloe was sleeping, thankfully), but we didn’t know which dog! After some Internet research, we learned that Ibuprofen is incredibly toxic to animals, so we were concerned right away…especially since Billie informed us that it was a brand new bottle that she only took 2 pills out of. It wasn’t long until we realized that the lucky dog to ingest about 300 Motrin tablets was Kodi. About 2 hours later, she got really sick and couldn’t even walk. My mom and Billie took her to the emergency vet clinic where they took great care of her. Her body temperature dropped from over 100 degrees to 97 degrees and her system was shutting down. However, the amazing vets (and my parents generously paying the massive hospital bill) saved her life! She spent 3 full days in the hospital and at the end, the doctors told Michelle that they didn’t think Kodi would make it through the first night. We are all so happy that Kodi is okay. I think she is bullet proof!
Fourth, Thanksgiving dinner was amazing! The past couple years, we have used AJ’s for Thanksgiving dinner, but this year was different. We decided to cook it ourselves and it was incredible! My mom (as my husband has said a million times before) is the BEST cook. The weather was beautiful and we ate our Thanksgiving day dinner outside on the patio. We have sooo much to be thankful for.
So, all-in-all, things are going well. As always, there is a lot of excitement around our house. We are all heading to Rocky Point this weekend for my cousin’s wedding. Danielle celebrates her birthday tomorrow, my dad celebrates his birthday on Saturday and Chloe and I celebrate our birthdays next week! Its crazy to think that Chloe is already turning one! She has been receiving presents already! My grandma bought her a gorgeous rocking horse that she just adores! My mom also bought Chloe a life-size toy pony! We named that pony Bill. I don’t know why….it was just funny at the time! I will post pictures! Both of them are sooo cute…and I don’t think it will be long until Chloe wants a real pony!!!
I hope all of you are doing great!
Love,
Nicole
