Colleen's Journey

Back on my feet…

Person reclining under blanket with two dogs

Hi Family and Friends:

Well as you know it’s been about a week since I posted anything. After my “day 8” of intra-abdominal Taxol I felt better than I anticipated, but it did slow me down a lot. On Friday night, Bill and I headed to our place in Forest Lakes, which is about 40 miles past Payson, for the weekend. Michelle and Pete were already there, warming the house up with a beautiful fire. Nicole and Billy arrived on Saturday just as Michelle and Pete were heading back down to the valley for work.

With great excitement we started to watch the ASU vs Oregon game. Ouch! is all I can say. Well I could say more… UCLA (and the little dancing bears) watch out!

Bill and I really had a restful weekend. We needed the time out (little one’s should not be the only ones who get time out) for ourselves to regroup. Too much has happened in the past month and half and we just have not taken the time we need to reflect, prioritize and share.

Because I was just not ready to get in the car and drive back to Phoenix, we stayed until Monday evening. My god, Phoenix is still hot and it’s not just my hotflashes! Speaking of hotflashes, I am now thankful I have no hair. Hey, at least the glass is half full!

Tuesday morning, Bill and I had a conference with an expert and I can’t tell you how good it felt to work. Being in bed for the past month with surgery and then chemo, made me realize how much I like my job, especially working with Bill. I don’t mean to brag, but he is good!!! Actually, he is better than good!! I have always appreciated being able to work with him and I really miss it. So I called the office and asked to get some work for the next couple of weeks to keep my mind busy and feel productive. Thanks Carol and Margie for the work.

I have had very good energy for the past two days and have run errands and have gotten a lot of paperwork and little things done that have been neglected for the past month or so.

So I just took a little break from writing this blog to go to the ASU vs Western New Mexico basketball exhibition game with Bill and Danielle. We love watching college basketball. Bill and I have had season tickets to the Devils for about 28 years so you know if you follow any college ball how we have endured much through the years…especially with the power house just south of us!

Speaking of the U of A, Michelle has scanned the wonderful note I received from Lute Olson and the Wildcats. Ok Manny, I will admit this really softened my heart toward the Wildcats! I am actually reading the book he published “The Seasons of My Life”. All proceeds go to the Arizona Cancer Center which is so awesome!

I wish Lute back to the court soon, especially when the Devils take the court against them. Thank you Lute Olson for the gracious note and for all the support to the Arizona Cancer Center in Tucson.

And a big Thank You to all my family and friends who continue to support my family and me.

I Love You All, Colleen
